Hi! Hello. Wow has it been a long time. Back in October, I promised I would properly post about this jumpsuit to share with you all the deets behind it, so here we are today!
I made this jumpsuit to wear to Silicon Valley Fashion Week in SF, sewing till the last minute and rushing the zipper like always. I wanted to create something that was fun and modern to match the atmosphere. I’ve never done a jumpsuit before this, although plenty of tops and pants, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to try something new.
The flaps in the front are what I like to call oversized lapels, like on a jacket? It’s a fun twist on a plain halter top, and the pants are just wide-legged with pleats. Pattern, self-drafted, like always. I used a rayon-challis I bought in Toronto last year which wrinkled like crazy, so minimal sitting is advised and lots of steaming recommended.
These photos were taken by Matthew Carlson. I had a really fun time shooting with him and his work is amazing, so check him out! Here’s his Instagram and website.
If you saw my Instagram Story you would know that this design has actually won an award- first place in the Young Crafters category of The Craftys, a national crafting competition, and Lisa Loeb was the one to announce it! You can view the video below, and here’s the news article Patch.com did on it.
That’s about all I have for today! It’s been a couple years since I’ve done a shoot so I’m just getting back in the hang of things. As you all know, I used to shoot once a week when I posted multiple times a week (oh those were the good days), so bear with me as I get used to the camera again. :) I’m currently working on a couple of new projects and designs, and I can’t wait to share them with you soon!
