This past weekend I had the honor of attending night 3 of Silicon Valley Fashion Week 2016 which was held in San Francisco and sponsored by Zappos. I had an amazing time watching the tech of Silicon Valley merge with fashion to create futuristic, useful, incredible, and just plain cool garments. Huge thanks to Betabrand for hosting such a wonderful show! They are a online clothing community that helps crowd-fund new and innovative designs to life, ranging from women’s pants and dresses to men’s shirts. Check out their website for modern clothing, or their Think Tank page if you have a design you want to bring to life!
If you follow me on Instagram and watch my Stories, you would have already seen a sneak peak of the show. My mom and I were able to snag seats right by the runway, a huge help in taking photos for you guys (by no means are the pics perfect, it was just a tad easier than stretching 5 feet and stepping on people to capture a shot). Below are my favorite looks of the night:
LED light up wings- cause we all need to be fairies and angels.
There was a funny pun that I forgot for the name of these two looks- something along the lines of “out of print” and “prince and princess”, really amazing art though!
Showcasing glasses on a flying mannequin-head drone- genius or what?!
These wings are actually a brace for scoliosis!
The reflective dress from Betabrand– the white design lights up in flash photography and the rest of the image turns dark!
Hail America… and more LEDs.
Spill-proof dress- it’s not even waterproof, it’s completely residue proof! Anything you spill won’t make a spot on this dress; there won’t be drops sitting on top like a raincoat! Tbh, I think all of our clothes need to be like this.
I did design, draft, and sew what I wore to the show, which was a light cobalt blue jumpsuit. It has a tie-up halter with round, exaggerated lapels, and a pleated pant. I made this in about a day, rushing last minute like always, but I got so many complements about the cut and drape of it. This is by far my favorite creation of the year and although I didn’t get a chance to take proper photos of the jumpsuit at the event, I hope to feature it in another post in the near future, maybe for the holidays? For now, it’s just the one photo below. :)

Again, I’m so grateful and couldn’t be happier that I had the opportunity to experience the show from front row! I left feeling super inspired and like I was living in the future. Please check out Betabrand as I think there will be many more interesting projects to come from them, in addition to the existing cool designs!
Hope you are all having a lovely day!
