Fall is finally here and so sweater weather is right around the corner. To celebrate and welcome the season, I’ll be showing you how to make this super cute and most importantly, comfortable top. It’s honestly so easy and will take you under 30 minutes! This top is perfect for traveling (aka planes) because if you wear a tank top underneath, you can either take off the top to act as a blanket or wear it when it’s super cold. It literally feels like wearing a blanket, keeping you cozy. Though this top isn’t the most figure flattering, it’s quite decent and cute for how comfy you are. Wear skinny jeans and boots underneath to balance out the look. Ready to make your own? :)
Fabric suggestions: fleece, thick knits, sweater knits, any thick fabric with slight stretch.
Fold your fabric in half lengthwise (horizontally), then widthwise (vertically). Rotate it so the folds are at the left and top. Fold your favorite t-shirt in half and align with the left fold like so. Use the shirt as a guide to trace out the front neckline on the fabric. Don’t cut it yet though!
Unfold the fabric once so that the left fold still remains. Cut out the neckline you just traced and then a shallower curve for the back neckline.
Open up the fabric and fold the fabric horizontally, right sides together. Sew up the sides, leaving a section unsewn for the armholes.
Hem the neckline by folding the fabric to the wrong side and stitching it down. Repeat this on the bottom edge of the top.
Turn your top right side out and cuff the sleeves for a polished look.
