Happy New Year (Eve)! Although not as excited as releasing/publishing a book (I mean can I really top last year?!), I worked on many fun projects this year and learned so much about fashion, community interaction, and myself. Here’s my yearly recap of what’s been going on:
February
Guest speaking at Cabrillo Middle School’s Career Day
Guest speaking at New Valley (Continuation) High School’s Career Day.
Won an award for the jumpsuit design- First place in the Young Crafters category of The Craftys
March
Taught a sewing workshop, guest judged, and signed books at the Girl Scouts Fashion Event in partnership with Kendra Scott.
May
Guest judged and signed books at a 4H fashion event.
Also finished two fashion courses at my local college- Advanced Illustration and Portfolio Development.
September
Ok so here’s what I’ve been dying to share! American Girl flew my mom and I out to NYC to shoot an episode of AG Life for their Youtube channel. I taught the girls how to make two of the DIYs on this blog: the DIY Blanket Top and the DIY Wide-Leg Pants. Their projects turned out amazing and I had so much fun shooting the video. Behind the scenes, it was such a crazy experience- I pulled an all-nighter making my outfit the day before, went to Chem class in the morning, and hopped on a plane at noon. We got to NYC around midnight, started shooting in the morning, and off I go back to California at 4pm. If you follow my Insta Story you would know that I barely made my flight due to rush hour traffic and you bet I ran through JFK with heels and crazy pants on, only for my flight to be delayed. Memorable moments for sure!
November
Finished the Pants Drafting class at the local college and made these leather pants as my finial project.
nothing else like wearing a freshly sewn outfit ✂️

Guest spoke at Wilcox High School for 3 different classes about fashion, business, branding, and authoring.
December
Finished another fashion class, Draping. For my final I attempted to do a simplified version of one of the sketches from my illustration class. It still needs to go through quite a few more revisions but I can already picture it.
Cheers to 2018! May it be the best year yet for all of us!
